My DD always seems to be sick or have an ilment doesnt she?!! Not true however, she did have a horrid horrid virus about two weeks ago.

Now, for the last three days, she has a swollen belly. When DH changed her nappy couple days ago she said 'sore' a couple times, but its new and we related it to her bottom being sore like we used to say to her if she had nappy rash.

Last night she had horrid diarrhea, and pointed to her tummy when I was changed her nappy, with a little frown saying sore, sore, sore. This morning she had awful diarrhea again and still saying sore when I put her in the bath.

Took day off work, not sent to nursery. No drs appts left, unless i think its really urgent, in which case i need to go at 10am anw wait up to 2 hours. should i go?

She has never had a swollen belly before with stomach bug. Is it normal?

Her behvaiour is absolutely fine, so fever, in a good mood.

Given the lack of response, which to be honest, seems quite usual on MN these days, unless its gossip or moaning, I will seek an alternative advice route

I don 't know whether a stomach bug can give you a swollen belly - but thought I should mention that if the swollen belly and looseness continues for longer than a few days it could be an indication of coeliac disease. Don't be fobbed off by the "toddler diarrhoea" diagnosis if you feel it is something more. Hope your DD is feeling better soon.

thanks flamingtoaster - Dr not concerned as she is passing stools and passing wind. and boy is she passing wind?!!! She is laughing her ass off everytime she farts!

He said to check her fluids, which are fine, and that its a bug which is working its way out, swollen belly is due to gases building up as bowel's sometimes top functioning fully with a bug and send gases back up to stomach. Nothing to worry about. keep an eye if its no better tomorrow take her in (I spoke to him on phone as no appts available).

Thanks for replying tho.

Glad the doctor is taking your DDs symptoms seriously and willing to keep an eye on it. Hopefully the wind will soon stop - though glad she is enjoying it!
