We both had the same dinner tonight. About an hour after we both got stomach ache and then v bad runs for about 2 to 3 hours but it's completely stopped now and we both feel fine.

what do you think?

I'm right in thinking that once it's passed it's not contagious, aren't i?

NOOOOO.

Food poisoning is contagious for up to 48hrs I am afraid, depending on the bug.

moopymoo · 23/01/2008 22:41

hmm. i guess i probably would send if seemed absolutely fine, had had plenty to drink etc. though could be the start of a bug and could be contagious. so probably if you were following the rule of 48hrs after d or v then no. but i would hth probably not!!

agree with SMS.

SlightlyMadShrek · 23/01/2008 22:46

Some is, not all though.

Chefs & nurses etc. are not allowed back to work for 48hrs after any D or V, food poisoning or otherwise.

NewYearNewStart · 23/01/2008 22:47

Really? 48 hrs? Even if the symptoms have passed? it was from Pork(gammon) if that makes any difference to the bug.

DS's school say no-one back in school until 48 hours since last vomiting / diarrhoea.

SlightlyMadShrek · 23/01/2008 22:51

Yup.

With food poisoning it does depend on the bug as to whetehr it is contagious - some are, some aren't. BUT I don't think there is any way of knowing what has caused it and whehter it is contagious or not.

Lmccrean · 23/01/2008 22:57

Did food safety in catering course last week - learnt lots about food poisoning that I really didnt want to know. But def not back to school for 48 hours since was last sick.

Lmccrean · 23/01/2008 23:02

just re-read and see you werent actually sick. oops.

was it something different to what you normally eat? dd and I both ger dodgy tummies after kfc/burger king/mcdonalds etc, but its not food poisoning...
