DS has rash on hands, knees + calves - any ideas?

15 month old ds has a spotty rash on hands, knees and lower legs (maybe also nappy area, but could just be nappy rash).
I've googled hand, foot + mouth and slapped cheek but doesn't seem to be either of these. His face is a bit spotty but he doesn't seem to have mouth ulcers/spots, although he was crying whilst eating his tea.
It started on backs of his knees yesterday and I just thought it was an allergy to washing powder but now it has spread. He didn't seem particularly ill but has woke 3 times since 7pm and have just given him calpol.
Does it sound familiar to anyone?

It could be viral, dd when unwell also gets a violent looking rash.

Could also have a look again and see if there are blisters on the tongue - when dd had HF&M it took the HV to spot it.

If angry and inflamed you could try an antihistamine like piriton or medised - all dependent on what medication you've already given.

Its not inflamed or anything. He already has antihistamine for a pre-existing condition too, maybe thats why its not really bothering him. Think he needs a trip to drs tomorrow. Probably is viral. Think he had a slight rash last year that concluded as viral too
