flow starting again directly after period ended- peri?

Is this a symptom of perimenopause?

I am 44 years old, periods have still been pretty regular and normal until this cycle.

Yesterday (Cycle Day 7 - when usually the flow has stopped and I just get the odd bit of spotting) the flow started up again. Today at Cycle Day 8 and the flow is still continuing so I have needed to wear a pad. It's like I have another period starting just when it has ended.

When I was in peri I had periods that would go on for weeks, and would start again after only short gap. They also got heavier and heavier

I ended up having a Mirena (which was marvellous). I believe it isn't that unusual

Sounds like peri or hormonal imbalance- i had this more in my 20s, nothing wrong physically so was put down to hormones - went on pill and it stopped once I eventually had a baby!

It could also be a fibroid or something so it might be worth getting checked out.
