What is up with DH?!

I posted a few weeks ago about DH feeling rubbish with what we thought was food poisoning. He ended up being really really ill for a full week to the point that I had become quite worried about him, constant diarrhoea, terrible stomach cramps, irritable, sleeping constantly and one minute full on body shakes/can’t keep warm and the next excessive sweating and ate absolutely nothing at all…

Finally after about 8 days he slowly started to get better and we just put it down to a dodgy Chinese.

Tonight (about 10 days after being back to normal) he picked me up from work and said he thought he was starting to feel awful, two toilet pit stops on the way home and back home and back into bed, feeling absolutely awful with the same symptoms. I’ve just been up to check on him and he is actually shaking the bed with how much he is shivering and he said he can’t get comfortable with the cramps.

Could this still be just a really bad bout of food poisoning? It was a gentle process got him to start to eat normally again after the 1st time but he was completely back to nonalcoholic before tonight…

What could it be?

On the anaemia thing, if he'll cooperate, ask him to show you the inside of his lips and gums. You'll soon see if they look pale.
However, if the blood is bright red, it may well be the result of going to the loo a lot and nothing more sinister than that. Old blood (which would make bowel movements look almost black) indicates that the bleeding is coming from somewhere earlier in the gut and needs to be investigated more urgently so you may need to have a conversation with him!
I'd keep a look out for any worsening of symptoms or any of the above that is worrying, and call yourself (if you're at all worried and he's not being sensible himself ) - if he kicks off, ask him what he would do if the roles were reversed.
I'm not medically trained BTW, just speaking from experience.

Many years ago my dad had these symptoms, it turned out to be salmonella.

Bloody diarrhoea is a warming sign as it can affect the kidneys.

I'm sorry I would be calling 111, sounds like a nasty infection or bowel blockage
