I have had a weird itchy sensation in my upper abdomen over towards my left flank. It literally feels like I need to stick my hand inside and have a good old scratch!! I have noticed today that, sorry to be crass, a good old belch helps as the 'itch' is in the area where the burps are brewing and when they pop it gives a little relief. It's so odd! Just came out of the blue on Sunday evening. I've been really stressed lately so wondering if it's stress related....it feels far worse when I think about it. It also lines up with an extremely litchy patch if skin I've had on my back for years which us just a tiny patch of dry skin...maybe the nerves are overestimated in that area!! Anyone else had this or am I uniquely bizarre!!!

I'm sorry OP, can't help solve this but I have also felt an internal itch that feel like it needs to be scratched from the inside out, very strange feeling indeed! Usually in my mid section or tummy area. Following this thread to see if anyone has any answers.... on the plus side, seems to go after a few hours

I've also had internal tummy itches all my life. No idea what causes it but its annoying.

I remember as a child having a strange internal itch on/in my back it turned out to be my lungs and I was later diagnosed with asthma.
Could yours possibly be shingles related??

I get internal itches but in my limbs.

I thought everyone did until I mentioned them to DH who was perplexed.

I feel there's the "real" itch, which is external, then somewhere on the same limb there's the internal itch, often 12inches or moew away.

Scratching the real itch stops the internal itch from itching, but only very briefly.

I always presumed it was a weird nerve thing.

I get this in a particular spot on my back (inside my back) whenever I have a cough or chest infection. Bodies are weird.
