Child Elbow Fracture Return to Sport

DS1 broke his elbow 5 weeks ago. He just came out of plaster yesterday. He is 8 and super sporty so it has been a long summer holiday for both of us.
The Dr was clear that he can swim straight away and this will do him good. But for other sports it wasn't so clear...

Can anyone advise please on average time to return to contact sports e.g. hockey and football and also rugby (I understand rugby will take longer due to falling on it).

He just had a cast for 5 weeks, no pins or surgery.

Many thanks

This is really only a question the consultant looking after him can answer. All breaks are different but in general returns to contact sports can be lengthy, up to 6 months

Doctors advice is obviously best.
For us, my child (6) wasn’t allowed to do things like gymnastics for a month after the plaster came off. We avoided the scooter and bike as well lest she fall off and damage her elbow that way.
it took a few months for her to get full movement anyway.
