Gastrosocopy 2 week cancer referral

My Mum had a gastroscopy today as she has been having problems swallowing food, it causes her to cough because it gets stuck in her throat.
She had a report from the hospital explaining what they had done and on the top it states 2 week wait - cancer.
Now I'm really worried 😢

If it says it at the top of the report it’s probably just referring to the pathway on which she was referred rather than an actual diagnosis. Doesn’t the report describe the actual findings endoscopy findings?

My mum also had that last week for the same reasons. She was seen the day after the GP referral. I think it’s just the two-week pathway. My mum has been given medication to try for two months.

It doesn't necessarily mean they think she has cancer, @user9182882, it just means they want to exclude that possibility before exploring others.
I recently had some tests to exclude bowel cancer, as that was one of the possible things causing my symptoms. In my case (and many others I'm sure), it was found that I don't have cancer.
I was very worried when I found out I was on the two week pathway, but am very glad that I was seen so quickly to make sure I don't have cancer.
It's not much comfort, but at least you all will know very quickly if there is anything to worry about - hopefully there isn't. Flowers

I've had this myself. It's simply a way of getting you seen very quickly, under two weeks. They will take biopsies so don't be alarmed by that either.
