Piriton, Cough and Eczema

Hi, this is more a curious question than a worry...

On Sunday my dd was coughing all day, I mean like every minute... she was also scratching alot the previous night due to her eczema..

That night I decided to give her piriton to eliviate the eczema.. so we would just have the cough to deal with if she wakes up - she wakes up alot in the night usually..

However, after a initial cough when went to bed.. that was it nothing...all through night - she slept through.. had a little cough in the morning, have had nothing since..

Has anyone experience this..

The Piriton would have calmed down her whole system so the cough was probably made better as it wasn't being aggravated.

Piriton sends me loopy! Literally, one 5ml spoon and I'm spinning. It's strong stuff but at least it works.

When my eczema gets really bad, I go to bed with a spoon of piriton and shut my eyes and lie still until I'm asleep!

No.. it has crossed my mind.. as she had a cough few weeks ago for 3 weeks... I got her checked out and all was fine.. She doesn't seem to have any other symptoms of asthma.

She coughed again last night.. settled after a little while (didn't give piriton) - No coughing today.

Will see how she goes.. she is 2.3 yrs....

She doesn't seem to suffer so its hard to know at what point you should say right see a doctor...and its only been since christmas and following a cold.

Yeah they do say periton makes them tired. Not noticed this on our dd though. We have the eczema troubles and slight asthma and loads and loads of allergies. So also I would recommend you pop to you doc to have a chat about asthma, the asthma nurses are great to talk to also. Have you thought of a dustmite allergy? Our dd has this and it affects alot of people and children. Bare it in mind for her eczema and possible asthma. Although it has been a nightmare lately for those terrible coughs and colds x
