The itch has been going on for a month+ and is always in the same place between shoulder blades. I know i have quite a few moles on my back but had them checked last year (can't remember when! Summer or just after maybe).
Should i go again? Could it be something to worry about?

It is driving me mad tonight!

Take some piriton to releive itching tonight and go get some advice. MIght be nothing but better to be safe eh.

Elibean · 21/01/2008 21:28

No real advice, but just to say I've had exactly the same thing since last summer - I eventually got the one (big) mole on my back removed, because I thought it was that and the GP said it was brushing against my bra strap. It still itches, and I honestly think it had nothing to do with the mole.

I would get it checked out, personally, just in case but if its not ON a mole....the only other thing I can think of is referred/nerve 'pain' from a stressed/tense back? I know from experience that trapped nerves can cause itching as well as pain, especially if its mild and surface-y, IYSWIM.

Singyswife-Thanks,haven't got any piriton so will have to put up with it for now.

Elibean- Its higher than bra strap, can't quite reach properly so not 100% sure if its a mole itching or not. Interesting that trapped nerve can cause itching. No pain there just the on and off itching.

Will phone Drs tomorrow for appointment.
Thanks.

can no one look at it for you??? any sting releif cream, that would work?

tortoise · 21/01/2008 21:44

I asked DS's to look but they didn't really know what they were looking for. They laugh at my moley back! Haven't got anyone else that could look. Even asked DS's to take a photo!! But that didn't work very well.

The nerves in the skin of your back are kinda odd - there are very few (compared to your lips, say) and each one feeds a fairly large area (it's been 20 years since my physiology class but from memory it was something like a 5cm diameter circle). This is what makes it very hard to figure out where the itch is coming from. You may find a gentle skin rub/massage will loosen/free the nerve as Elibean said, a bit like rubbing a barked shin.

I have an itch between my shoulder blades. Sort of below my left shoulder blade.

It itches & 'fizzes' (like a pins & needles effect feeling)

I have a curved spine though & this is how it feels most of the time... apart from when it is aching!!

phdlifeneedsanewlife Thats very interesting. I sit on PC chair rubbing my back against it to scratch it!

No pins and needles. Just itching.
