Recurring migraines

I was wondering if anyone has been through similar and what you did/what helped.

I've suffered with migraines since I was 15 and am now 32. I usually have one every 6 months but haven't had one for well over a year.
For the past 2 weeks, I've had them almost daily, sometimes twice a day.
I get quite a severe headache with them, nausea and an aura which causes me to lose up to 50% of my vision.
I'm just concerned that I'm suddenly having lots of them out of nowhere.

Has anyone else been through this?

1- as this is an unusual pattern for you, and the migraines are there everyday, then you really need to go and be checked by your GP asap. It could anything rather than ‘just’ migraines and you need to be checked out.

2- I’ve had migraines/headaches like this since this January. GP actually thought it could be péri ménopause to start with (it’s not - HRT didn’t make any differences). They also wanted to put me on amitriptiline but I found that a high dose of magnesium worked well for me so I’m sticking with that for now.

I second having it checked out as it’s unusual for you.

I get migraines in bursts too though, started about 5 years ago. I’ll have periods of having one every few days for a month or so and then not have one for 6 months. Mine are triggered by lights, they’re worse in winter because car headlights seem to be a real issue for me but also certain strip lights can tip me over. I always feel like once I’ve had one my brain is very on edge and needs only the slightest trigger to have another one.

Thank you both. I'll make an appointment on Monday. Slightly mortified as I've had to go to the drs a few times recently over other things and feel embarrassed as hell to go again 🙈 I don't want them thinking I'm a hypochondriac
