Sweaty bedtime

My little boy is 9 and over the past year he has started to sweat excessively at night. I go into his room and his pillow is soaking and his body is sticky with sweat. I try to pull the quilt down and he only sleeps in his boxers, so I don’t understand how he can be so warm.
is this a boy thing? Or should I maybe get him checking for other issues?
his bed stinks of vinegar and the smell is in his pillow and quilt I can’t get rid of it. I have to air his room daily, but his bed constantly smells.
many advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Poor lad. I would book an appointment with the Gp as it doesn't sound right.

Is he v thirsty/tired?

Might he be better in thin/ shorts pjs? As a menopausal lady, I've found when I sleep in next to nothing I pull the covers onto me and then get far too hot.
Does sound unusual though and a gp trip is probably a good idea

Does he pull the quilt right over his head? My DS did this from a young age as it made him feel secure but on hot nights he ended up a sweaty mess. What tog is his quilt? I ended up making DS's bed up with a thin cotton top sheet that he could pull right over him then a light quilt that stayed pulled down. He could always pull the quilt a bit further up his body if he felt chilly.
He is very young to be so sweaty - from my experience lads start getting proper whiffy nearer 11/12 when the puberty hormones kick in. If it's not a case of him just having too many covers on him then I'd see the GP as it's a bit odd at his age.

It could be a number of things but most likely nothing to worry about as it's pretty common according to this www.thehealthyapron.com/sweat-smell-like-vinegar Though it does say to visit the GP if it doesn't go.

Just to add...My DS had the same thing when he was in his teens and didn't last very long.
