so I can go to work tonight and last for 5 hours. got to do my shift as i need the cash, but need reviving
i can hardly swallow and the snottiness is all up in my head. feel ghastly.
cold relief tablets have done nothing. i am a bit hot too so it is obviously going to get worse before it gets better.

I get sinusitis a lot. Sudafed decongestants work but you need to take them regularly. Steam rooms are good. There is a nasal spray you can get which has a steroid in it - that is quite good too and if you use if before the sinusitis gets really bad it can prevent it getting worse. Cold remedies don't work as you have discovered. Take max strength vic c dissolvable tablets too. Hot lemon and honey (maybe with a drop of whiskey) is very good for your throat. Good luck. It is a horrible thing to get and I sympathise.

thanks ll. will try the nasal spray.would love the whisky option butdon't think it would go down well at work(tee hee)as I have to deal with the public.
Might have some sudafed in the house- will check.
just want to go back to bed TBH

Snorting lukewarm salt water is good - I find it works better than any decongestant!
It's disgusting - make sure you do it over a sink, but it works really well to clear blocked and painful sinuses.

Cremolafoam · 19/01/2008 17:30

ok am mainlining echinachea liquid and have found some zinc at the back of a drawer.

Never heard of that. If the usual things didn't work I would consider it but it would have to be a last resort.

ejt1764 · 21/01/2008 17:50

a pharmacist friend of mine put me on to snorting salt water - it's gross, but it really works!

Hate doing it, but can't use decongestant at the mo as am bf! When in need...

Yes I have had terrible sinusitis twice when pg so couldn't use sudafed, had I known about the brine snorting I'd have been so happy
