Suspicious mole removal - what to expect ?

Hi,

I have had a flat mole on the front of my lower leg since I was a baby I only noticed recently has changed shape and colour.

It is finally being removed this week after 8 long weeks of waiting for the appointment. Very worried about it.

I just wanted to know what the procedure is and if they still cut and stitch it etc ? its against the bone on the front of my lower leg so not really any fat there. I have an active job and have a toddler I’m running round after- should I take a few days off to be on the safe side or is it usually ok with this kind of procedure? Sorry I have no clue what to expect so just want people to experience there experiences pls (no information on the appointment letter)

thanks !

I had a mole taken off my shoulder recently using the shave and cautery procedure. Basically numbed the area, shaved off the mole and then cauterised to seal the skin. Mine was about 1cm across and flat. I gather from my Dr as it was flat and on the surface rather then going into layers of skin it didn’t need stitching. Maybe give them a call and see if they can tell you any more to help you plan?

I@MrsTomHardy13 thanks for your reply! That is a relief for you. I got through to them this afternoon and they said they will be stitching my leg and applying a dressing. Can I ask how long it took for you to get your results please?

I can’t remember exactly. I want to say maybe around 3 weeks. I hope all goes well for you.

I had one recently and they said 4 weeks for results at the moment but it could be less on different areas. Hope it all goes well!
