Just had Endoscopy and have burst blood vessels in both eyes, over face, neck and shoulders- advice needed?

The year has not been good. Started with my 40 th Birthday in week 1, week 2 brought a wisdom tooth extraction and this week (yesterday)I had an Endoscopy (little camera down the throat to dee inside of tummy).

I tried to have it without being knocked out. Lots of people can cope with just the throat numbing spray apparently but I wretched so much they took it out and sedated me.

The damage was already done and I have a blood red left eye, a pink right eye and little dots all over my face kneck and shoulders. Where these have joined together they make purple blotches like someone has battered me.

Can anyone suggest any remedy to speed them up in fading?

You poor thing! Don't know any fast cures, but just wanted to reassure you that they will fade.

Preparation H may help, but apply sparingly.

arnica cream? You poor thing I work in a endoscopy unit I've never seen this, they really should have stopped a bit sooner and given you sedation if you were finding it so distressing.

Hope it fades soon take care

I don't think they kept going very long babalon. The nurse said the tube was fully in place before they took the decision to take it out again. The staff were really kind too so I can't really blame anyone. I'll just remember to take sedation if there is a next time.

Triathlete - isn't Prep H for bottom problems? Have you knowlegde of this working on your face?

frisbyrat - today both eye sockets are yellow and the blood on the whites of my eyes has spread out to give me an evil devil look. Thankfully the spots of purple and red on my face have begun to fade. I have put foundation on and almost have normal skin colour in places. Neck and top of back are still dotty.

Thanks for all your concern everyone. It doesn't look like there is a magic bullet out there to fade things quicker though does it.

Hi figleaf - excatly same thing happened to me - really horrible, but faded on their own within a couple of days.

figleaf · 19/01/2008 19:05

Thats good to know permatired. I have been looking on google for burst blood vessels etc but the only ones I found were those associated with plastic surgery. It says these can be permanent.I couldn't see that mine would be but then I didn't really expect to look this bad.

I had one completely red eye after a difficult labour. It took about 2 weeks to disappear.
