Broken ankle pain

I broke my ankle last Monday. It is a stable Weber A fracture so I have a boot for four weeks and crutches. I was told I can weight bear. It didn't hurt too much when I did it but over the last three days the pain has increased significantly especially at night. I am finding that I can't put as much weight through it and when I do it aches when sitting. My ankle and up the side of my leg almost have a burning sensation and I feel like someone is tightening a band around my lower calf muscle.

I have broken bones before and the pain has always got better and not worse but I'm wondering if this is just because I am using it more because I am allowed to. Is this normal? Can anyone else share their experience please.

Hi I think I'd check with gp or hospital re the feeling of tightening in your calf, especially if you haven't been moving too much. I wouldn't mind the aches and pain when sitting tbh, having broken both ankles before, but I'd have an outside concern re clots re your description of calf pain. Also, will put your mind at ease

Sounds like you're over doing it, you need to rest it as much as you can and keep it raised. My pain was a burning pan, like someone was holding an iron to my ankle.

Poor you, that sounds painful. I would get yourself checked by a doctor if you have calf pain just to rule out a clot, it might be that the boot needs adjusting but its better to get checked out.
