I met with a friend for a while on Tuesday and again on Wednesday morning. He said he was sick overnight on Tuesday. He tested at home for covid but he said it wasn't covid. He said it was something he ate or a stomach bug.
All of his close contacts came down with the same thing within a matter of days - his parents, any of his siblings that they visited and their families, me and I don't know who else.
My symptoms started on Thursday evening with nausea. I went straight to bed with a bucket just in case. Within 2 hours of the nausea I was vomiting.
I don't know what days we're my exposure. I reckon it was Tuesday before he became ill because apparently one is most infectious for illnesses before they show symptoms. So would that make it a 48 hour incubation? It was for me anyways. His parents took longer to show symptoms.
As soon as I got sick, I isolated in my room and avoided my family. I only got up at night time when I felt 'ok' and for a drink of water and medicine. I kept the windows open for ventilation. I carried out appropriate hygiene at all times. I never took my hands to my mouth and I used hand sanitiser and alcohol sanitisating wipes in the bathroom. I isolated in my room all day yesterday in case I was still infectious.
It's been approximately 39 hours since the onset of my symptoms.
I feel better today.
My question.
Do you think my family has been spared this horrible and hideous stomach bug? I don't want to make them ill.
