Slightly concerned about this mole

It has been on my thigh for years, two GPs looked at it and said it was nothing to worry about but it still concerns me. It's growing and it's very different from all my other moles (I have seborrheic keratosis so have quite a few).

I really would like to get rid of it and get it checked again but not sure how to go on about it as I keep getting fobbed off.

Where do I go from here? How can I get to a dermatologist when the GP isn't bothered?

Oh I would get that checked. Can you pay privately and go to a mole clinic?

I would see a different GP and get that checked again, push them for a referral for a dermatologist.

I’m pretty sure they have to refer you if you have at least two notable changes eg. Shape/ Colour / Size? I agree you need to request a different opinion from another GP. I had noticed changes and couldn’t get an appointment so I was asked to send in some photos through the e consultation pathway. The GP called me and said because I had noticed two recent changes he would refer me to a dermatologist fast tracked with an appointment in under two weeks. I went and had it looked at, the dermatologist took photographs with the intention to review the mole after 8 weeks. He did however call me and explained he would be happy for me to have the mole removed should I wish to. I chose to have the mole removed. I would say that if you are really worried then push for a different option. Good luck.

Thank you all, I'll try again on Monday.

If you can afford it you don’t need a referral to see a private dermatologist.

Can I suggest the Mole Clinic if you have a branch near you. They do mole checks for a flat rate of about £60 a mole and are very good - they caught an early basal cell cancer on my sister
