Athlete's foot powder talc under boobs?

GriseldaPlum · 22/07/2022 19:39

Being of the big-boobed variety, in this weather I occasionally get a bit of a sore yeast (I think?) rash under boobs. A bit of Daktarin usually sorts it out and I always use plenty of talc. Was just wondering if using athletes foot powder would ward it off altogether. I have googled but not really found a definitive answer. I'd ask my GP if I could ever get anywhere near. I'd like to find out on the ground, so to speak, if this is a thing, and if anyone else does this.

Try Caldescene powder, I was recommended it on here and it's seriously good stuff. I now get it delivered from Ireland as I can't find it anywhere in the UK.

As a big boobed person myself, I often use athletes foot powder in the summer. The Boots own brand.

Curticura mildly medicated talc sorts mine out no problem when I start to notice and infection. Much faster than normal talc and probably better for your boobs than athletes foot powder

Does this stop it starting in the first place?
I currently use Boots Medicated Body Powder in the blue and white very small tub for around four squids!!😮
This is excellent, but does not, I think, have anti fungal properties. Could be wrong. I just really wanted to know that I was not alone in thinking about using athlete's foot powder. And whether it works!!

Thank you.

Thanks to others responses which I appreciate. I've tried many different talcs.
I just wondered if I was weird for putting athletes' foot powder under my boobs.

My mum swears by it - boots own brand only - I have started using it myself and yes it prevents issues if you put it on at the start of the day!

I have this and it’s called Intertrigo. I use talc and even roll on deodorant sometimes but am going to try the athletes foot powders!
I have to keep an eye out for it as it comes quickly but can also disappear quickly if I use talc.

hugoagogo · 23/07/2022 08:00

I can't seem to find athletes foot powder anywhere anymore, just the spray or creams.

CornishTiger · 23/07/2022 08:04

@BlackboardMonitorVimes how do you get it from Ireland.

This stuff is good too. Twin Pack Medipure Medicated Body Powder 100% Talc Free 200g amzn.eu/d/9wxr06K

@GriseldaPlum if you have an infection that’ll need treating first properly and wash bras hot enough to clear any fungal. Lots of us use various talcs but it’s the infection that’s makes it unbearable. I used to be in agony every summer. Now I’m not. I’m huge. It was sorting the infection out. Think he prescribed fucidin cream?

CornishTiger · 23/07/2022 08:06

Ah No think it was this at end of article.

I also changed the type of bra I wear.

Won't caneston cream do the trick ?

Cocowatermelon · 23/07/2022 08:11

Does the powder you have mention jock itch? - That’s when the same fungal infection that causes athlete’s foot reaches the skin in the groin. If it’s safe for treating that skin then I’d say it’s also ok for underboob skin.

Huntswomanonthemove · 23/07/2022 08:15

To properly get rid, I took the oral tablet for thrush, which cleared it up completely. I’ve now lost a bit of weight and bought cotton rich bras and been free from it for three years.

@CornishTiger from Inish pharmacy, they deliver to the UK. Although they are currently saying it's out of stock!

Creams keep the skin too soggy and damp. Talc is better as it is drying.

userxx · 23/07/2022 10:05

@thenightsky thank you, I'm battling this at the moment and I'm feeling sore. Will get the talc as suggested.

GriseldaPlum · 23/07/2022 10:05

That's a good point. I'll look for jock itch powder:)
I don't have a problem at the moment, but as a pp said, it creeps up on you suddenly in this weather. Thanks all for input.

This is a good question for a pharmacist really OP. Tell them Daktarin (cream?) + talc sorts the problem for you when it occurs and you’ve read that you can use the same powdered treatment people use for athlete’s foot.

Car1965 · 16/09/2022 21:54

I’m suffering the same 😢

Car1965 · 16/09/2022 21:55

Me too 😓

zeromango · 16/09/2022 21:58

I find the Boots medicated powder excellent - I use it for my boobs and under my c section overhang, it's great and absorbs beautifully with no clumping. And it's not actually talc anymore, it's just starch so it's fine to use daily.

YourTruthorMine · 16/09/2022 22:04

Me too. This is the first time I've had it, is it because of the very hot summer? knicked DH's athlete's foot cream, but it's still itchy as hell

Oblomov22 · 16/09/2022 22:15

Canestan works for me.
