Head pains/anxiety

morning.

im new here but curious about anybodies other experiences.

I suffer from absolutely debilitating health anxiety and OCD. It has been exceptionally hard the past few months after going through some traumatic events heightening it. I am currently in therapy with a psychotherapist and have just started as of Friday on Escilatopram and have Ativan for extreme panic attacks.

The last almost 2 months I’ve been experiencing horrible tension headaches and temple twitches or spasms if I explain them correctly. With some pain in my temples and forhead randomly on and off. Everyone is saying it is caused by my stress/ anxiety.

I’ve been to my doctor about them, the ER where they said the same and didn’t feel any scans were necessary. I also followed up with my doctor yesterday after them not resolving from my trip to the ER and she said the same thing stick out the meds it’s probably worsening my anxiety and headaches because my body isn’t used to it.

Everyday I’m terrified there is something worse wrong. I have had episodes before of my anxiety being this bad but not for this long. I can’t keep going to my doctor every single day to be told the same thing.

Would you push for a scan/mri or wait out the meds and see if it resolves and just ignore the pains/pressure.

If you got this far, thank you ❤️

Hi, the meds are probably making thinks worst at the moment. I suffer with health anxiety which is extremely bad now too but I’ve just switched my AD and think they have just heightened my anxiety. I plan on giving them 6 weeks to kick in but like you I know it’s tough. I really struggling with cardio phobia and every little palpitation I get escalates my anxiety to full blown panic attacks. It’s horrible isn’t it? I’m constantly back and forth between doctors and hospital. Just wanted to let you know that your not alone.

Thanks so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ve gone through a period of months when I was worried about my heart as well. It lasted me a while before I moved onto my brain/head. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!!!

Yes, I honestly wake up everyday thinking I need to call the doctor. I’ve been there with the brain/head too. I had headaches blurred vision which lasted for weeks so had an MRI, lumbar puncture and bloods done. Everything was normal and even though I had a feeling it was my anxiety causing them I just couldn’t believe it. I’m the same with moving to a new sensation once one has passed but we will get there.

Hi @Curiousmama2023 I'm going through something similar , doctor has said it's tensions headaches caused by anxiety and had tried to put me on sertraline. I am hesitant to take them as the only thing making me anxious is the headaches . I'm 5 months postpartum which they keep saying can also be why, but I can't see how tensions head aches caused by anxiety can last this long when I don't feel anxious 😭 any advice would be great. Thanks
