Just been diagnosed with this, and need a bit of a hand-hold. Does anyone else have experience of this, and what it does to the system? Any dietary recommendations or advice? Bit of a shock to hear I have this and haven't heard of it before.

@happyinherts hi, I have SCLE, so similar. Still Lupus but the effects are different to SLE. It's debilitating at times, with fatigue, pains and extreme sun sensitivity etc etc.
How were you diagnosed? Here if you need to chat. X

Thanks for reply @CrazyRatLover I was concerned that my hand was turning scarlet. I've always bruised easily for no apparent reason, but my hand turning scarlet frightened me. Had blood tests which showed rheumatoid factor high - I'm going to have more blood tests in six weeks, but Dr says she's certain I have SLE. I've googled it, and don't know what to make of it all really.

Yes I bruise easily. Did your GP suggest rheumatoid arthritis?

happyinherts · 22/07/2022 22:13

I didn't have all the symptoms for Rheumatoid Arthritis - although RF was slightly elevated at 16. If my blood tests in six weeks time show results higher than that, I may be referred to a rheumatologist, but it's the scarlet hand / blistering which makes her think it's SLE

I was diagnosed with SLE 16 years ago. Happy to answer any questions you have?

CrazyRatLover · 22/07/2022 22:22

I had red dots on my hands and tiny blisters before my diagnosis and treatment. Good luck with the further investigations, and hopefully they'll come up with a good treatment plan for you. Again, here for you if you need any questions answering or to chat.

@happyinherts By the way, can I suggest a really good site and forum for you to hear personal experiences of SLE and get advice. It's HealthUnlocked, and look for Lupus UK. It's popular and very helpful.
