Yellow skin around wound after stitches?

Stardust35 · 21/07/2022 10:15

3 days ago I had a skin biopsy and 5 stitches put in. The stitches are due out next week. I took the dressing off last night and this morning I noticed that all the skin around the wound had turned yellow. The wound isn't hot. Just very yellow skin that spreads out from the incision. Is this normal healing or do I need to ring the GP? Any similar experiences welcome! Thank you!

Just bruising surely? Or the skin disinfectant still there?

It could be bruising or they used iodine to clean your skin which can be washed off. Do you want to post a pic.

Thank you, this is what it looks like.
The grayish line is just where the dressing has been stuck.

That (to me) looks like iodine which is what they will have used to disinfect it.

Do you otherwise feel well, normal temp etc?

Stardust35 · 21/07/2022 10:33

Thank you, yes I feel absolutely fine. The stitches are stinging a bit but I guess that's to be expected. It's on my neck so the skin is a bit tender there.

It's a bruise. Have you never had a yellowy bruise before? Very normal.
