Yesterday at work is tarted to feel a pain in my lower back - actually it was in the upper p[art of my buttocks!. it gradually got worse as the day progressed and by alst night I could hardly walk. I ahd a terrible night and today the pain is still there. It's worse on the left side than the right. it is in my buttocks and the top of my leg and whenever I move my leg - to walk, turn over etc it gets worse. I have no idea what I've done to it and Ibuprofena nd paracetamol aren't helping. i tried ice and heat to no avail.
Need to go into work at 11!

sounds like sciatica

know how you feel.

How does sciatica start then? DH wondered if I had pulled a muscle at work, but I do no heavy lifting, although i am on my feet a lot!
I can't even sit properly, I'm sort of leaning to the right to take the pressure off my left side

Or it could be sacroiliac related. Sounds exactly like the pain I get especially the painful to turn over and where the pain is. If ibuprofen isnt helping its worth seeing doctor. In the mean time make sure you keep up the painkillers regularly, more effective that way.
Hope you get some relief soon - its awful.

I hurt my back really badly once just bending over to peel potatoes over the bin!!Sometimes its really easy to tweak something! Definitely does sound like sciatica. Codeine and paracetamol are more helpful for sciatic pain than ibuprofen, I find! (but will knock you out a bit so be careful if taking them before work!)

You didn't goto work did you?
Could you get to an osteopath?

saltire · 18/01/2008 14:22

I wnet to work but got snet home after an hour!
Pharmacist advised Ibuprofen gel and the tablet form, she said they can be taken together.
She says to rest as much as possible over weekend and if no better, to not go into work on monday but go and see Dcotor.

Glad you're home - now go lie on the floor!

the doc will prob only tell you to take paracetamol. an osteopath will tweak you and help you quicker IMO.

I hop eyou're soon feeling better
