Ds 3yrs is having his tonsils and andenoids removed next Tuesday. I am extremely nervous and would love any advice for during and after op.

make sure he drinks loads .my ds had his tonsils and andeniods out when he was four.
he got a nasty infection on the wounds because he refused to drink.
it wasnt very nice.

Thanks marymay he is drinking quite well at the moment although very dry last night. Op went well and he bounced back to his cheeky toddler self in the afternoon - thoroughly spoilt though!

How was the night? And how was he today?

Mine had a really bad night (but did not want to post that just before your ds's op), with lots of pain. Yesterday he slept 4 hours in the daytime, was struggling to eat and drink, complained of ear ache, and was quite lethargic. Better in the evening, when he suddenly decided he wanted to play games on my computer.

This night was much better, and he was back to his usual bright self today. Eating and drinking more today.

Ds has been quite good with the pain and has slept through every night. We have kept on top of the calpol and nurofen but he only needed 2 doses today.

The major problem for him is really bad constipation - he has been writhing around the floor in pain. We gave him califig first thing this morning and had a breakthough this evening!! Praise the lord!

Good to hear it is going well. The nurses warned me that codeine had that effect. There will be no codeine left after tomorrow, so we will see. My son is still having ear ache and problems swallowing.
