Stuck Ring - help!!

Soo... I'm clearly a complete and utter idiot and have managed to get my wedding ring well and truly stuck! I've tried icing it, hand above head, using oil underneath it and trying with thread to get it off... all to no avail!

Does anyone have any other ideas for me to try?! Really, really don't want to have to get it cut if I can avoid it at all!

Try keeping your hand raised for a while? Or icy water. Avoid salt for a few days. Unless it's uncomfortable I wouldn't go so far as to cut it while it's this hot- a lot of people swell in the heat, it might be easier when it cools down.

Oh sorry you did say about raising it.

Try the string/ribbon trick. There is a video on here

Washing up liquid

leave it alone for a while. all those efforts will have made your finger swell even more. Is it on the "usual" finger...ie does it normally fit?
If yes and your are not in danger of losing your finger and can feel with the tip and it's not blue........
Wait until early tomorrow morning when your cortisol level is highest and you are (hopefully) cooler and probably a little dehydrated.....

take a piece of thin flat ribbon, thread it under the ring and then spiral it down the finger....it does not need to be tight. Pull the end ov]f the ribbon under the ring towards the top of the finger and the ring should move over the knuckle.

I'll try to find a picture

Run your hand under cold water 👍🏻

All the trying to get it off will have made it swell, and I daresay your fingers will already be swollen due to the heat.

Thanks everyone... honestly, feel like a right idiot!

It's on its usual finger, but I've developed a little bit of eczema on my hands (always do in the heat!) and thought I'd take them off to sort my hands without them on. Admittedly they are slightly tighter than when they were last off (still got a little baby weight to lose 🤣)

That's all v helpful, I'll leave it in peace for the rest of today and try tomorrow morning. Fingers not sore other than the skin being irritated by my efforts!

How did you do the thread thing? I used to work in A&E and I never had a patient this didn't work on! Dental floss works better than cotton though, if you can get it underneath

Fashiontatts · 17/07/2022 19:07

@AndSoFinally admittedly I was maybe being a bit wussy with how tight I was winding it...!
