Stupid question re tanning

Hi All

Since having my son 2 years ago I’ve educated myself on skin health and have been chucking the factor 50 on myself when I apply his.

I’m pale so tend to use gradual tanning moisturisers but is there ANY safe amount of tanning? Is there such a thing as a sunscreen that will allow you a tan but also protect you from skin cancers?

I feel like I’m missing something.
