No compression stockings. Why not?

I had a hysterectomy on Tuesday. The hospital used a leg-massaging machine on me the night of my operation, then blood-thinning injections that night and the next one.

I wasn't given compression stockings to wear, nor any to take home.

Most women I've spoken to were sent home with stockings and injections!

I'm slightly worried... Is there a reason I didn't get the stockings?

Please don't tell me yo phone the ward. I rang them last night in a panic because I thought my dressing had opened up - and it hadn't, so I'm too embarrassed to phone them with a new worry!

Hi OP, no clue about if they should or shouldn't have, but Amazon have them on next day / same day delivery, and boots have lots online too if you want to get some delivered 😊

Thanks -- lovely DH has gone to buy me some from Boots.

Nothing wrong with wearing some if you feel better about it. But it sounds like they've used another method to prevent clots.

I was given stockings ten weeks ago but took them off the day after I got home. It's the first time I've actually agreed to wear them. Their sensory overload for me causes meltdowns.

You should be fine.

Don't worry about it. As long as you're slowly keeping mobile regularly you'll be just fine
