Daughter with short menstrual cycle

My 12-year-old started her periods in May, and is already on her 5th cycle.

Her first one was 20 days long, the rest have been 17-18 days. Thankfully her periods are light, couple pads a day, and she says the cramps are just annoying, but her periods 6-7 days long so she's only getting a ten-ish day break and she does seem a bit more tired lately.

I'm worried and considering trying to talk to a doctor during the summer, but I also know that it can be normal for cycles to be weird at the start - I'm just more used to the other end of very long cycles - and I'm not sure what the doctor can do or is likely to do other than hormonal medication which I'm not sure the benefit-to-risks for at her age (and with conditions that make it riskier in the family) or check for anemia.

Any experience or tips to help support her would be appreciated.

Hi OP. Don’t have much to add to this sorry except when my DD started it took a few months for her to settle. I think she went long then short then long a couple times, and now two years in the app she uses gets it right to the day so she’s obv regular. Your DD’s do sound very short though, might be worth asking the GP and considering an iron supplement? Hope you get some reassurance:)
