Has anyone been treated for MRSA?

I’ve had constant infections on the skin condition on my hands and have had antibiotics at least once a month since last June. The nurse phoned me today and the last swab I had done showed it’s now resistant to all antibiotics. She said because I’ve had so many and we’ve been trying to battle it for so long it’s just become resistant and colonised.

I’ve been going to the nurses at the surgery twice a week for bandages and they have changed my appointment tomorrow to the last one of the day because of it. She said they use some kind of wash on it. Anyone ever been treated for it?

Hi, I’m the OP just a different name. No never managed to clear it. After my last post they gave me two different antibiotics for ten days, an antibacterial wash, antibiotic cream and antibiotic nose cream to use alongside for ten days too. They then did swabs 5 days, 10 days and 15 days after I finished the treatment, if they were all clear it was classed as cleared up. The third one showed it had come back, so they repeated it all and this time they were all clear.

I had swabs on and off following this and it would come back and I would have oral antibiotics on and off.

Last February it was becoming constant again so I had longer courses of antibiotics (4 weeks), along with the creams ect. Still didn’t clear. My GP eventually spoke to the microbiologist and they recommend taking daily antibiotics to control it and said it won’t clear while I still have open sores.

So I’ve been on twice daily antibiotics since May 2023.

I’m now on an immunosuppressant from the dermatologist for my skin condition which hasn’t done much so waiting to see what they want to do next.

The dermatologist spoke to the microbiologist recently and I’ve just finished a course of the creams ect just had a different antibiotic this time that I’ve never had before. Having swabs done on Friday to see if it’s worked.
