I've got a copper coil too and I get on ok with it. At least I don't have to think about it or worry about getting pg! When I had my 1st coil I had similar probs to what you're talking about. You can get painkillers for it that are prescription only. I can't remember what they're called. It may well be worth going to your doc. Not fun being in pain, especially if there is a painkiller for the sort of pain your in!

It should get better with time.

nailpolish · 17/01/2008 16:22

not keen on long term painkillers though

i have had painful ovulation since dd1 was born i think - stopped during pg with dd2 (obv) and then started again - i think - didnt get a coil til a year after dd2 ws born

so dont think its related

it just feel slike a mess

painful ovulation
painful periods
dont want any more children anyway
cnat have pill or mirena

etc etc etc

Might be worth getting checked by GP. Sometimes prolonged mid-cycle pain and heavy periods can be caused by endometriosis or fibroids.

Not an expert on the subject but I get umcomfortable pelvic pain and think I have an ovarian cyst. Am awaiting scan for this.

Hopefully others may be able to advise you, nailpolish.

Not much too offer nailpolish apart from mutual suffering. I suffer from very painful ovulation, but not every month. Have a Mirena but don't think it is related as I had this pre-babies and pre-Mirena. Saw a doc about it in my early 20s and he had nowt useful to advise, just prescribed Ponstan Forte painkillers, which, like you, I didn't want to take long term. Maybe get something in stock for when the pain is really awful? I don't know if sterilisation would stop it? Not sure I'd want to go through that myself...

Perhaps you should book useful in for a gynae MOT naily. I've been thinking I should do the same - as others have helpfully pointed out, summat dodgy could be going on. Am currently ignoring a 3 week old invitation for a smear test so hark at me...

Sparkletastic · 17/01/2008 16:35

I.know a very old post nail polish.but saw this post and it describes me at the moment aswell!! Can I ask.how it was sorted in.the end?

Rachaelfaa · 30/09/2018 11:27

This is me right now. 6 weeks after having coil fitted. I have the worst sickening pain in what i presume is my left ovary. I used to laugh at women who said they had painful periods and think ‘its just a period, get over it’ but wow the copper coil gives periods a whole new meaning!
