Possible lung cancer

I've had a cough for just over 4 months. Went to gp a while ago, had an xray. Got a call from surgery the other day telling me my xray results were in and that the gp wanted to speak to me that day so I knew it wasn't great. Gp called later and told me 3 small white spots were seen in my lungs and that she was going to put me on the 2 week wait for a ct. Today hospital alled to arrange a lung function test gp hadn't even mentioned as well as full bloods pre ct scan. The speed at which this is all happening is pretty frightening. Gp said 3/5 % chance of cancer, it could be an infection, scar tissue etc. Tbh I'm bricking it and to add to the fun I've had to rearrange my lung function test as just tested positive for covid. The only good thing is that my cough doesn't seem quite so bad the last 5 days....any calming comments would be much appreciated

Let's flip this.

It's a potential 97% not cancer. Please hold on to that and I'm sure you'll be just fine

I love how quickly the NHS works when there's even the tiniest chance it's cancer. Please don't be alarmed by the speed - be reassured that you are being cared for, and cared about.

Any update OP?

Thanks for your message. I've only just tested negative for covid so I had to phone in and delay my pre ct scan bloods which should have happened on Thursday. Its been rescheduled for Tuesday when I also have lung function testing in the same dept that they want to do the bloods. Only silver lining is that since having covid oddly my cough is better than it was as opposed to worse.

Old thread but we can still ask - how did you get on, OP?

beethecrackon24995 · 21/09/2023 23:36

Well....I'd like to say I'm technically still under investigation as I've not been discharged. Last thing I know is that I still have at least one lung nodule. However I'm in a shit position in that I seem to be lost in the NHS system. I had a letter months ago cancelling a july appointment and to call to reschedule but it was hard getting through and when I did i was told they'd let me know but I never heard. Still waiting.....went to gp who said they'd apply for an appointment but still not heard. Pretty shit, trying not to think about it as I have no control. I spoke to a women at the hospital when I had a lung function test but she was a real bitch to me, really unnecessarily rude and off. May as well asked the cat. Nephrology dept on the other hand have been great (I have pkd). Thanks for asking!
