Birthmark has grown - really freaking out.

I was born with an oval shaped birthmark on my leg, I’ve never paid much attention to it as I stupidly thought nothing sinister could happen to a mole. As soon as I found out it did need monitoring I sent a picture through to my GP last year who confirmed it looked fine and to monitor.

I’ve just took a comparison picture today as it’s almost been 12 months and it’s grown. It’s the same colour and to my eyes doesn’t look any bigger really but comparing side by side the pictures it’s grown a bit for sure.

I can’t tell you how much I’m freaking out. Is it normal for a bit of growth to happen? I’m booking to see a dermatologist but I can’t find any appointments anytime soon.

If it's only grown a small amount, you should definitely get it checked out but don't worry about being super super urgent.

I have a very large birthmark on my arm and keep an eye on it's shape. It grows with me IYSWIM. So has your leg itself changed shape?

I know it sounds ridiculous when you're freaking out, but try not too. It's unlikely to be anything sinister.

Thank you, I took another picture from another angle and it looks a lot less ‘different’ but there is some slight growth, literally nothing I’d ever have been able to pick up on just by sight, only when checking the two photos.

I have booked to see a dermatologist in 10 days time, this was the nearest appointment I could find unfortunately.
