Tongue biopsy

Has anyone has a tongue biopsy? I had one nearly a week ago and it is so sore and not really improving all that much. The stitches are still in. Any idea when I can hope to see an improvement? At the hospital they just said discomfort for 24-48 hours

I've not had one but I've done plenty. Tongues hurt like mad but generally heal fairly swiftly. At this stage the stitches might be irritating the wound. Wash your hands very well and gently rub the stitches, if they're ready to go they'll start to come away -don't prod or poke. Quite often that resolves things. Any bad smell or discharge get in touch with whoever did it for advice.

My DH had one and yes it took a very long time for the swelling and soreness to go down, weeks rather than days I'm afraid. Much longer than we were told or expected. Sorry.

Thank you both so much for your replies. That's really helpful, it's good to know your experience @UltimateIrritant although sorry to hear it was unpleasant for him too. And @Darkrainbow I really appreciate your advice.

I've had one. It was quite painful for a few days. I sucked a lot of ice which helped a bit and paracetamol. Once the stiches went it was a lot better. The hospital did tell me it could take up 48hrs - a week as people's level of discomfort vary.
