Having GA for a biopsy - going under terrifies me!

So slightly thickened endrometrium following abnormal blood loss after menopause. Doc wanted to do a biopsy in her clinic there and then! No way Jose! So scheduled for a hysterectomy and biopsy next Friday 14th. Terrified of having a GA. I know it won't be for long, but I'm very overweight and unfit. Any tips for dealing with this anxiety? Thanks.

assuming you mean hysteroscopy not hysterectomy…. It can be done with spinal anaesthetic and avoid the need for GA (unless there are contraindications for spinal). The anaesthetist looking after you will be able to discuss the pros & cons.

Uhhhh.. Freudian slip, yes, hysteroscopy! I wanted sedation but the hospital doesn't offer that, think the only option is GA.

I had surgery in March and the sheer terror of the GA outweighed the fear of the procedure. There are some good articles, such as this one:

Hope all goes well for your recovery.
