Is there a horrific cough going round?

I thought I have a cough that was an worsening of a little cough I've had for months - the GP prescribed omeprazole

But over the weekend it's become apparent it's a bug of some sort, DD had a mild version but mine is getting worse!

Very dry throat, hard cough, phlegm and then vomiting

Is it just me?

Surprised they gave you omeprazole for a cough?

I’ve had a really bad cough recently. All negative tests.

Covid going round again. LFT showed negative for me for the first 4 days. But then only showed positive for 4 days after that (part of a trial and testing for work, before the "stop testing" crew come out)

(The gp probably thought the long term "little cough" was acid related, hence omeprazole)

There’s definitely a non-covid (and nastier symptom-wise in our experience) coughy virus going around. My son was wiped out by it for about 10 days. The GP confirmed not covid as they’d seen a number of cases (we’d tested already) and no treatment apart from rest etc.

Yes, it is, and silent reflux gives you a cough. I still have mine after 5 years of omeprazole, but it does help a lot. I’ve had all the investigations for other causes of the cough and this is what we’ve come down to.

Well I've lft'd as my uncle is in a care home and I visit- 3 negatives in the last week so fingers crossed

Yes if it was just an escalation of my little.cough the omeprazole makes sense for reflux

But I feel a bit flu-y not and 'not well' so I've cancelled my appts and I'm going to feel sorry for myself

There was a thread on MN yesterday about the nasty cough virus. I've had it. My daughter is still coughing and can't shift it. Both covid negative.

Yes I've had it about 3-4 weeks only just starting to go

Yes, kids sound like they smoke 30 a day. Tests negative.
