Gallbladder/Liver cyst

Around 6 weeks ago I ended up in A and E with a gallbladder infection and suspected blockage. I never suffered with gallbladder issues previously..

I had an ultrasound which showed some gallstones, but also a growth on my liver. I had a CT scan and the consultant said he was pretty sure it was a cyst but they couldn't be 100% so would refer me on.

I have since found out the growth is 9cm by 11cm on my liver - yikes! A doctor called and said it would be discussed in a Friday department meeting with specialists and decide whether they would do an MRI or take a sample just to rule out anything sinister purely because of how big it is.

I dont know if its my imagination but since then, I have had a near constant niggly feeling where my liver and gallbladder is. Could be the gallbladder still, but could I also feel the liver cyst?

Just looking for anyone with similar stories to help put my mind at ease!

@Butteryflakycrust83 I was recently diagnosed with gallstones, fatty liver and liver cysts, yet I’ve never had any symptoms. The GP asked the specialist’s advice and I was sent for a detailed MRI scan of the area. The result was normal no further action. But like you now every twinge in that area I think it’s the liver. You’ll be more reassured once they do further tests.

So glad to hear the result was normal! It appears to be one of those things thats more common than you think.....

Yes Buttery these things are often found when scanning for unrelated matters. I’ve had other scares all because of scans and incidental findings! x

Hiya

Yes - consultants said liver cyst benign and if I have any symptoms to have GP refer me back to them. A huge relief! Its made me want to take better care with my diet though.

Gallstones - have an appointment next week to discuss removal. Horrible blighters!

Had my gall bladder removed last year. In and out of hospital in a day. All the little scars have disappeared.

Fantastic! How long until you were back to normal?

I had my gallbladder removed last Wednesday (10th) and I feel absolutely fine already. Just a little stiffness. I was terrified before the op but it was really nothing to worry about.
