Too much poo in 4 month old baby?

I posted a few days ago about my DS not putting on weight and now waking in the night. I'm guessing it's a growth spurt which seems quite common at this age. Another thing for me to worry about though (there's always something) is for nearly a week now he's been pooing a lot each day. I think we had 8/9 poos yesterday. He used to only do on average 1 a day. Do you think this is normal? I'm sure this started after he had his 3rd set of immunisations - could this have something to do with it or perhaps it is just because he is eating more? He's breast fed by the way.

soapy I'm not expert but dd has never done as many as 8/9 poos a day - hopefully someone will come along who knows a bit more about poo. I think dd did a max odf one a day at that age, if not one every 2 days.
Does it seem to bother your ds - is he teething - have you eaten anything different?

Is he perky in himself and eating well? Is he actually losing weight or just not gaining much? Does he have a fever?

If you're worried at all then you should take him to see the Dr - it is aways better safe than sorry and he's so tiny. It's probably absolutely fine but if you're worried, then trust your instinct.

Yes he's v perky, eating well and it doesn't seem to be bothering him. He hasn't lost weight but he hadn't gained any weight in 3 weeks (this was before the pooing started though!). I don't think he's teething. I wonder if it could be the jabs as after them he did a couple of quite watery and smelly poos. They then returned to their normal colour and consistency, just more frequent, although yesterday there were a couple of greeny tinged ones. Think will ask Dr.

Let us know how you get on - and make sure he gets lots of milk so that he doesn't get de-hydrated!

Thought should add to this - he's still pooing as much but went to Dr and she said is probably tummy bug and they can hang around for ages, so nothing to worry about.

glad nothing to worry about. My 11 month is a demon poo-er, we've even swapped to own brand nappies because they stay on for such a short time.

Our Dr told us anything up to 7 a day is normal!
