Vitamin d deficiency tingling

Hello
Can anyone tell me if they had any of these symptoms associated with vitamin D deficiency. My levels are low at 19. I have the following: tingling in feet, hands, legs, sometimes numb feel in limbs which only last a small amount of time, lightheaded.
I'm not anemic, all other bloods are OK. Do you think these symptoms could be due to my deficiency? Thanks

You say your other bloods are ok but what are your B12 levels?

Abs811 · 29/06/2022 11:40

@LilacPoppy I don't think that was measured, but I didn't think I'd be deficiency in that, isn't that more common in older people? I can ask my gp for a test...

This is what I was wondering. You can be symptomatic in the lower end of ‘normal’ range. My tingling was B12 deficiency-resolved with injections.

my Vitamin D deficiency hurt my bones.

I’m not old btw Grin

I have b12 deficiency pop up every few years and my symptoms are just like yours. This started when I was a teen. Nothing to do with age.

Abs811 · 29/06/2022 11:46

Thank you both. What causes b12 deficiency? Is it diet related? I have a very healthy balanced diet

OP posts:
Lellochip · 29/06/2022 11:52

Unusual to not get enough in your diet unless you're vegan, so normally means your body isn't absorbing it from your food properly. Can be a stomach/intestinal issue, this is why some people need to supplement in injection form rather than tablets

Wellthatsjustswell · 29/06/2022 11:59

It depends, it can either be diet related or an absorption issue. If you do have low B12 they should do an intrinsic factor antibody blood test to see if it is an absorption issue.

Thank you all. I thought my symptoms might be Vit D deficiency related, but doesn't sound like anyone has these symptoms with Vit D deficiency....?

Could be a nerve issue in your spine. I had similar and had every test possible and was found to have compressed nerve roots in my spine. I had a mri. It comes and goes but is mostly ok.

blimppy · 29/06/2022 18:26

I had nerve tingling in my face due to Vit D deficiency. And painful shins! But it does sound like it might also be worth checking your B12 levels.

Abs811 · 29/06/2022 22:20

I also forgot to mention I get hot/burning feet sensations. I will get my b12 levels checked based on the comment on here...

I'm deficient in both so I couldn't tell you which caused my tingling/feet issues

But both are relatively cheap to supplement - I use vit D sprays plus b12 injections but you can get a b12 spray too

Abs811 · 30/06/2022 08:49

@KatyMac do you know why you're deficient in both? Is it diet related?

Probably for years I was diagnosed with IBS but when I had abdominal surgery in 2018 they found scar tissue & adhesions on nd around my lower bowel (from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in 2000)

So all the things I couldn't eat due to IBS have become things I can't eat because of bowel damage

I am also low in zinc iron folate and I supplement with those and also Vit K, potassium, & magnesium and theyvhelp absorption of the others

I also have ME/CFS and fibromyalgia, hypermobility and lots of allergies/intolerances

SB1990 · 18/01/2023 16:00

Hey @Abs811 - did you get any further with this

Abs811 · 01/02/2023 08:49

@SB1990 sorry for the delayed response.

I have to say that these symptoms have pretty much gone, not quite sure what is was.

Do you have similar problems?
