Has anyone ever become pregnant straight after a miscarriage or have you always waited.

I became pregnant straight after a miscarriage and he’s now a strapping 13 year oldz

I think they like you to wait more for emotional reasons. You’re actually very fertile after a miscarriage so we just went for it. I had quite an early miscarriage though at 7 weeks and it wasn’t too traumatic. The risk would be if you lost the next pregnancy then emotionally that’s a lot to
deal with in a short space of time.

A later miscarriage may take longer to recover from physically too.

Me. All went well.

I just want to get on with it really. I heard all sorts wait 6 months, wait 3 months. But the nurse said im ready to start again, maybe after my first cycle, just so they can calculate dates better.

Me. All good. GP told me to wait a bit but my doctor mother told us to crack on as I was 35. DD2 was fine, as was I.

Delatron · 30/06/2022 15:41

I don’t understand the calculate dates better argument. That’s what scans are for. I think you know if you’re ready to try again. I wouldn’t have wanted to wait months and months for no good reason.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was told I could try again straight away if I wanted to and they often just recommend waiting for a cycle so that it's easier to date. I've had 4 losses, 3 of them on consecutive cycles where I got pregnant again without a break in between (which was quite miraculous given it took me 2.5 years to conceive for the first time).

After my last loss, I did have to wait whilst I underwent recurrent miscarriage tests but tried again as soon as I was given the green light. I thankfully got pregnant straight away and am now nearly 28 weeks and everything is looking good this time.

The one thing I'd say though is after my two slightly later losses (MMCs at 10.5 and 11 weeks), the first period afterwards felt like a bit of a clear out down there (sorry to be graphic!) and so depending on how far along you were, you may prefer to wait until after you have a period anyway if it was a bit further along. I didn't find this with my 4 and 5.5 week losses though (these were the ones I got pregnant again directly after).

Ihaveamagicwand · 30/06/2022 16:20

Waited for the six week check then went for it! Pregnant virtually straight away, really big baby though. I always wondered if it was because of the extra hormones still whizzing around in my body.

Yourinmyspot · 30/06/2022 17:48

I always waited, but that was more because I couldn’t face another loss so soon afterwards. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with DD I just sat and cried for an hour as I just thought I would miscarry in a few weeks the same as my previous six pregnancies. Luckily she ‘stuck’ and is now ten.

sorry for your loss and I hope it all goes well for you.
