Had a UTI about three weeks ago, three-day course of macrobid/nitrofurantoin seemed to clear it, but symptoms returned about a week later and doctor suggested a longer course. They sent off my sample to the lab the first time and grew a culture or something? And said nitrofurantoin was the right drug.
I had a flare-up of anxiety around the time of the first course, and realised after starting the second that there is some kind of connection, dizziness, palpitations, I think it is a reaction to the medicine. Doctor has suggested trimethoprim instead and have been taking this a couple of days but no improvement in symptoms.
I think I am looking for reassurance that if the trimethoprim doesn't work (and it certainly isn't working quickly like the other drug did) there will be SOMETHING they can give me. Obviously I will call the doctor back in a couple of days if necessary.
Would be interested to hear any experiences of what you were prescribed, please give me some hope!
