How can I quickly boost my immune system? My 3 year old gs gets recurring chest infections and viruses, at 3 he copes pretty well with it but at nearly 50 I am not.

I'm currently on my 7th chest infection since July last year. I'm completely whacked.

I haven't had chest issues since I gave up smoking almost 15 years ago I don't even cough, but since my grandson came to live with me it's been endless.

I am his sole carer I can't afford to be this poorly this often. Please help - thank you 🙏🏼

Have you had your bloods checked? I would take a supplement of Vit C and D every day, ever since I did this I found I pick up viruses a lot less often.

Cait73 · 26/06/2022 11:55

Bloods showed vit D was very low so I'm on that permanently, I'll add C thank you

Is it stress related? Make sure you have all the vitamins you need like vitamin C and D for example, plus multivitamins and minerals. Take plenty of fresh air exercise. Maybe get your Gp to check you over for lung function as smoking is a long term risk factor.

I find that taking echinacea drops from Vogel can be really helpful at boosting immunity. I take it when I start to feel under the weather.

@cottagegardenflower I believe your immune system is compromised due to stress, poor diet and lack of sleep - unfortunately I tick all these boxes. It's been a horrible couple of years (custody of gs) I make sure 3 year old eats well but am too tired/lazy by the time he's gone to bed, to make myself anything too substantial and I don't sleep

I need a whole lifestyle change I know that, just desperate to find something I can do now before the next virus arrives

Sorry to hear OP, eating lots of things like onions and garlic as well as soup made from bone broth can be amazing for your immune system.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 26/06/2022 14:53

Get your gut health checked by a nutritionist. Your immune system is in your gut and if that’s struggling, your immunity will be compromised.

So I've ordered Magnesium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Echinacea
