I have been plagued with tonsillitis in teh past but not had it fpor years. Got to now with no col/cough/nasty virus.

I have a very importnat client meeting that I must attend on Thurs and prepare for tomorrow.

Now I feel a throat coming on. That scratchy pianful feeling when I swallow. I am hot and have catarrh. I can not be ill, I simply can't.

Can I do anything to prevent an illness?

gargle with antiseptic mouthwash.

take echinacea and vit c - if you do get something it will be more mild

and zinc can zap sore throats

Zinc lozenges from the health food shop - not a cure but do seem to limit the symptoms.

If you can take aspirin, gargling soluble aspirin works wonders in the short term (to get through your meeting) for sore throats.

Chop an onion and soak in runny honey. Leave for a couple of hours the using a teaspoon drink the juice that comes out - not the nicest taste in the world but its an ancient remedy - and it works!! Drink 2 teaspoons every hour. the longer you leave the more huice comes out.

boots do a fab own-brand anaesthetic throat spray - ask at the pharmacy. if the throat does get worse at least you can spray it numb

i swear by organic apple cider vinegar and honey it's excellent try manuka honey too it's the best in terms of antisceptic and anti-biotic, also just gargle with salt water, plus lots if vit c honey and lemon - if u have a juicer juice orange, lemon, lime and ginger with a nip of brandy or whisky, 'cuteth the phleghm' as they say. And finally, onion juice, drizzle honey on a sliced onion and leave overnight, the honey extracts the juice and it's an excellent cough/cold syrup.
