To Think This Isn't Right?

I felt dreadful today but managed to go to my local chemist to collect my medication. I realised I hadn't ordered a particular medication which I needed today.

One of the pharmacists in the chemist suggested I ring 111 so that a prescription could be sent to the chemist very quickly as I was too late to get one from my doctor's surgery.

It took me about 10 minutes to get through and when I finally did the receptionist at 111 told me they couldn't send a prescription over to that chemist.

I questioned this with another pharmacist and they had a go at me treating me like a child in front of another customer saying they wouldn't be able to issue emergency medication for various reasons.

I lost my temper and said I should have been told. I am dreading going back there but they are the nearest pharmacy to where I live. I think I was a bit off but I was feeling awful.

Should I take this up with a manager? I've already made a complaint before about the chemist. Thanks

Sounds like you need to apologise, not complain.

I'd apologise for losing your temper. It's not their fault that you didn't order your prescription and they don't deserve customers being angry with them.

Could you ask them about ordering your prescriptions for you so that you never run out?

Is it a controlled drug? If it is, a pharmacist can’t legally give you an emergency supply, even if your GP surgery is shut. What should you have been told? They couldn’t do an emergency supply or nhs 111 couldn’t send a prescription?

To clarify;

I was given the wrong information by one pharmacist about being able to get an emergency prescription sent to the pharmacy for medication which isn't a controlled drug by ringing 111

The second pharmacist had a go at me and that's why I lost my temper

I shouldn't have to apologise. They have given me the wrong information and treated me like a 5 year old belittling me
