How much for varicose vein surgery

Ugh - I've just noticed that I've got a varicose vein forming on my calf. I've been thinking for months that one was forming and today I saw it in its glory.

I had a really bad one that was stripped from the other leg 2009 when I was 25ish. I went private and that cost £1500 or there abouts.

I do remember the consultant saying they were genetic and I'd likely get another one but I was hoping I wouldn't.

If anyone has had one removed recently, what method did you have and how much was it?

I probably wouldn't do stripping again - that was 3 weeks of hell to recover from.

I had one leg done by laser ablation 2 years ago - very little down time afterwards if you don't count a week of horrible support stockings!

It was done in half a day under locals by a consultant vascular surgeon, cost £3000 and worth every penny.
