Hyperinflated lungs, increased pancreatic enzymes

Hello,

I had a chest X ray nearly two months ago, and the results showed hyperinflated lungs. The GP suggested this could be a sign of emphysema and put me on the waiting list for spirometry to confirm.

A blood test carried out at about the same time as the X ray showed increased pancreatic enzymes and anaemia. The GP said she would write to a consultant for next steps

I am tired and quite breathless most of the time, but still able to exercise, work and so on. I mentioned the breathlessness and now have an inhaler.

However, (and I feel a bit self conscious saying this) I am tired of waiting. I am getting a bit obsessive about when or whether the appointment for the test (s) will come, and I do not have a formal diagnosis, so, I do not really know what to put on forms that ask if I have any medical conditions (e.g. dental treatment forms and so on).

I am just wondering whether I should just sit this out and wait, keep ringing the doctor (if this would do any good with respect to waiting times and so on) or seek a private consultation.

What would anyone advise?
