Hi, last week I noticed a tick bite and pulled it out with the hook thing. Last night I noticed a red ring so went to the doctors today and they have started me on antibiotics. I feel anxious and having a cry. Does anyone have any experience or advice to share?

Sorry having a bit of a wobble

I had a very classic bulls eye rash and felt very unwell. Antibiotics totally cleared it up with a couple of weeks and I had no residual symptoms at all. You've got this nice and early, so try not to worry.

Its only an issue if not caught early. I had the same and had antibiotics. No complications.

MayBeee · 17/06/2022 19:59

You will be ok as you caught it early. I have heard it suggested that once you have a tick off you , pop it in a freezer bag and freeze. Wait to see if you get the rash , if not chuck. If you do get it sometimes they can send off the body to research to check the best treatment .

It knocked me off my feet for about 8 weeks and I spent 6 of those horizontal on the couch snoozing. All fine now though.

It’s not a bad idea to send i5 it off anyway, particularly if it’s carrying Lymes disease.

Sorry, I thought that was the scheme where they wanted ticks to be sent to them.

MissConductUS · 17/06/2022 20:50

I've had it. You'll be fine. It takes time for the bacteria to spread to places where the antibiotics can't kill it easily.

I had a tick bite, which developed the classic ring, so went to the GP. A month’s worth of antibiotics and I have been fine since (I was fine from the outset too, apart from the skin lesion)

Thanks so much everyone 💐 all your comments have helped me to relax a bit and get this into perspective. Really glad to read the antibiotics worked for you all and you are all fine now.

I've taken my two capsules of antibiotics today and touch wood I am feeling fine. Just slight heartburn with the antibiotics.

Ugh, poor you.

I am not surprised you are upset. I am neurotic about ticks. But I do know people who have fully recovered from Lymes.

Good luck for a speedy recovery.

Thank you @SausageAndCash
