Is it possible that I am imagining these symptoms?

Another one where chickenpox is taking over local area, thought I saw a spot on DS a few days ago, got paranoid and have been checking him since but he's no worse. I saw a spot or two on me which could easily pass for a bite but I was convinced. I've laid in bed awake most of the night feeling like my skin is sort of prickly with these sensations everywhere for my neck to my feet to my back to the tips of my fingers to my scalp that I was confident where all my spots coming out. A general prickliness everywhere with little bursts of sharp sensation of a spot popping up. I've gotten up and checked and no spots, still just the two that could be bites but my skin still feels weird. I've now convinced myself it's the start of a shingles outbreak as I googled prickly skin and it said shingles which is linked to CP.

Dh (kindly) saying this is anxiety and I'm imagining these symptoms and that I'm fine, if it was shingles it wouldn't be my whole body feeling prickly and I would feel ill in some way.

Is this possible? Or is this shingles/CP?

You sound very anxious. Have you spoke to anyone about it ?

Sorry yes I'm very anxious as we are flying off on our honeymoon (well, family moon!) next week and if we get CP or shingles were doomed!

I'd say you are just anxious, understandably so with holiday imminent. Shingles is very painful so I'm sure you'd know if you had it as not just a tingling. Also you can't catch shingles from someone with chicken pox. If the two spots on your DS a few days ago were chicken pox they would have multiplied by now so doubt they were chicken pox.

Try to put it out of your mind and look forward to your 'family moon'!

I think you're just anxious.

Shingles is a reactivation of the chickenpox virus, you can't actually catch it from chickenpox (although you can catch chickenpox from a shingles rash). In fact exposure to chickenpox when you've previously had it is thought to act as a natural booster to the virus, making shingles less likely.

If you've had chickenpox in the past it's pretty unlikely you'd catch it again if exposed. Immunity is never 100% with any illness but chickenpox immunity nearly always persists well.

Enjoy your honeymoon and try not to worry (easier said than done I know).

Sounds like it's prickly skin from the heat.

It's the weirdest sensation and I just can't work out if I'm totally paranoid or not!!
