Emergency Eye Appointment

I hope someone can alleviate my anxiety by at least shedding some light as to why 71yr old DH has got an immediate appointment at the Eye Clinic.
Another two weeks ago he had what appeared to be a large floater in his eye. Over time it has dissipated but he thought that he still better get it checked out.
He had an eye sight test today and the optician says that he has cataracts in both eyes. He could see a slight bleed at the top of his retina too. He was going to send this to the Eye Clinic and he advised that they would probably see him within a couple of weeks.
About an hour later the clinic had called and they want to see him tomorrow.
I'm panicking and need to stay calm but I'm finding this difficult as I've had such a stressful time lately. Is it usual for referrals to be quick for eye issues.
Thank you if you read this x

Yes, they're usually quite quick. Also, they may have had a cancellation.

Thank you for replying newtb x Just writing it down helps me. I've gotten** quite anxious and it just seemed too quick for me! Maybe because it's eye related.
