My legs are always very dry, slight flaking, I'm looking for recommendations for a cream that actually moisturises. I've currently been using E45.

Aveeno Skin Relief (the one with the dark blue band around the tube)

AnnaMagnani · 11/06/2022 08:52

E45 is rubbish. It's one of the mildest emollients around.

Aveeno, Doublebase, Cetraben, Zerobase, Hydromol all worth trying. If you need something stronger look for ointment rather than cream. Lotion is the weakest. Ointment>cream>lotion.

Also look at what you are washing with - most shower gels will be stripping your skin so undoing your good work. You can use the above creams as a wash (they will feel a bit weird compared to a shower gel). Bubble bath is also a no.

Thanks, I'll get some Aveeno and see how that helps. Showering with cream sounds odd but I'll give it a go.

This stuff is amazing and was developed in a hospital dermatology department for skin conditions and scarring from burns. I've not tried the lavender but the original is an excellent moisturiser. I've even used it on my face.

I use the Neutrogena cream for dry feet all over my body. Works well on the KP on my legs.
I 'slug' on my face - put vaseline on top of a rich night cream.

using the bar soap from skinsalve.co.uk really helps with dry skin on my legs

LuckyAmy1986 · 16/06/2022 18:58

aveeno is very good

If you suffering from dry skin, better to following natural remedies is a good option, but it will take little time for good results. Natural alovera gel cream is a best option for dry skin.

Loving Aveena, it's already made a difference.

I've had Eczema all my life and Aveeno irritated my skin and ointment was too suffocating for it.
