A family member was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago. Was told to stop (chain) smoking but she couldn't. Now she's unable to get up the stairs or across the garden without stopping for a long rest and can't leave the house unless it's to get in the car or onto her mobility scooter. Has been hospitalised recently with pneumonia. Really seems to have gone downhill in the last year. She won't talk about it so we don't know what the doctors are saying, but I'm just wondering if people can share their experiences. Is it too late at this point for her to stop smoking? What can we expect generally? Thanks.
